DESCRIPTION:This is a time for you and your dog to practice on a Competition Dock. The Dock is open for three hour blocks of time. You may be by yourself or there may be several dogs (everyone gets plenty of time to jump). When you have multiple dogs\,  you get to rest your dog\, show them a bit of what a competition will look like (a few minutes on the dock and then rotating off for the next person\, then back on\, etc…). This is a great way to build community with others who share your passion! During the summer we have open dock 3-5 times per week; and the winter\, weather permitting 1-2x per week. We will focus on acclimating dogs to pools for those dogs that haven’t seen a pool. Once they are comfortable swimming in the pool\, they learn to use the ramp\, and then we start on Jumping. Dogs who are already experienced pool swimmers may move more quickly and that’s great! We move at the learning rate of each dog. Class Max size is 5. Dogs are worked individually. SUMMARY:CWC 401: Obedience: Out and Abouts
DESCRIPTION:These are field trips to various community places/events to practice our obedience skills in real life situations. These are typically Friday (first or second Friday of the month depending on Facility events) but may occasionally move to another day to accommodate going to a specific event. We will typically move between Lodi\, Galt\, Rancho Cordova\, Folsom\, Amador. We will often go to a store such as Home Depot\, Lowes\, Tractor Supply.  All outings will be at dog friendly locations so that both service dog prospects and pet prospects may attend. \nWe also have regular trips to a patio Restaurant/coffee shop. It is so important to work on life skills\, so like our store outings\, these are designed to get us out of the facility and into the community so that our dogs can learn to settle during social interactions around other dogs. Make no mistake\, while we are having a “social outing” we are training\, so its very important for owners to learn how to maintain training even when not on the “training field”. The location of the outings will be posted in the online community within 7 days of the scheduled outing. \nThese community outings.  Sign up in our Gold Country K9 Academy online Community under ” Meetups” once you are approved to go! You must have completed your CWC 301 Certificate.

DESCRIPTION:IGP (formerly Schutzhund/ IPO)\nThis class is for those wanting to do the sport. The field will be open for obedience for the first 30 minutes; and protection will follow at that time. We focus on putting the foundation in place methodically and with excellent technique.  It is not required that you take our focused obedience program\, but it is certainly helpful if you are. That will give you an understanding of our methodology and why we do things the way we do them. We host trials here at the facility. Once our new competition field is in\, we expect to host trials 3-4 times per year. This class is offered through Gold Country Working Dog Club. \n  \nCost: $20.00\nSchedule Appointment
