DESCRIPTION:Communicate with Clarity 101 & Communicate with Clarity 201\nThis in person skills class is an adjunct to our online course\, Communicate with Clarity\, where both Aspiring Trainers and Pet Owners who desire excellence in obedience come to learn. Students can come to get eyes on their skills to ensure that they are building their mechanics properly when introducing a new cue. The students start in our online sessions in Communicate with Clarity 101\, where students are learning how to develop communications systems based upon how dogs learn best. While their is robust online support\, some students naturally prefer to come in person to have their learning mechanics assessed and this is the place to do that! Students will work one at a time for a few minutes during the class to demonstrate the mechanics they are developing and receive feedback on strengths and areas of improvement. All students may participate in each students learning session. Dogs will remain in vehicles/crates\, until it is their turn\, in order to minimize distractions at this stage of training. \nWhat this class is NOT. This is not a group class where all dogs are out at once. There is no/minimal lecture (other than individual feedback). All students are expected to come to work on the specific skill that they are working to complete in the 101 (and then the 201) module. They are expected to have listened to the lectures and be clear about what skill they are working on (Based on what skills they have already achieved badges for and which badge they are working on) We can help students build the training plans for class during our online Q&A times. \n  \nSchedule Appointment\n \n

SUMMARY:CWC 401: Obedience: Out and Abouts
DESCRIPTION:These are field trips to various community places/events to practice our obedience skills in real life situations. These are typically Friday (first or second Friday of the month depending on Facility events) but may occasionally move to another day to accommodate going to a specific event. We will typically move between Lodi\, Galt\, Rancho Cordova\, Folsom\, Amador. We will often go to a store such as Home Depot\, Lowes\, Tractor Supply.  All outings will be at dog friendly locations so that both service dog prospects and pet prospects may attend. \nWe also have regular trips to a patio Restaurant/coffee shop. It is so important to work on life skills\, so like our store outings\, these are designed to get us out of the facility and into the community so that our dogs can learn to settle during social interactions around other dogs. Make no mistake\, while we are having a “social outing” we are training\, so its very important for owners to learn how to maintain training even when not on the “training field”. The location of the outings will be posted in the online community within 7 days of the scheduled outing. \nThese community outings.  Sign up in our Gold Country K9 Academy online Community under ” Meetups” once you are approved to go! You must have completed your CWC 301 Certificate.

SUMMARY:Open Dock
DESCRIPTION:This is a time for you and your dog to practice on a Competition Dock. The Dock is open for three hour blocks of time. You may be by yourself or there may be several dogs (everyone gets plenty of time to jump). When you have multiple dogs\,  you get to rest your dog\, show them a bit of what a competition will look like (a few minutes on the dock and then rotating off for the next person\, then back on\, etc…). This is a great way to build community with others who share your passion! During the summer we have open dock 3-5 times per week; and the winter\, weather permitting 1-2x per week. DESCRIPTION:Come get involved in the coolest sport around. Whether your dog is an expert swimmer or still needs to learn\, this class is where you get started. We will focus on acclimating dogs to pools for those dogs that haven’t seen a pool. Once they are comfortable swimming in the pool\, they learn to use the ramp\, and then we start on Jumping. Dogs who are already experienced pool swimmers may move more quickly and that’s great! We move at the learning rate of each dog. Class Max size is 5. Dogs are worked individually. No contact between dogs. \nSign up for Dock Diving 101 Schedule Appointment\n \nPlease be aware that once the class is full\, the date longer show on the signup link above.  You may pick a different date\, or keep checking back\, as sometimes\, people adjust their dates and a spot will open up the week prior to class. \nWhat to Bring: Bring a flat or martingale collar and 6-10′ leash for the dock (you can use any equipment  you need to get to the dock\, but once on the dock\, this is the required equipment); your dogs favorite motivators (floating toys and/or food). If you have a lifejacket\, please bring it (do not go buy one if you don’t have it\, you can borrow one).
