Run and Play!
All dogs get the opportunity to run in any one of our several run areas. We have a large yard with a pond which most enjoy; or some enjoy the quieter setting of the office (you will often see “office dogs” posted on facebook) for those dogs that really prefer to stay indoors or don’t seem to prefer that to the large run yards. Each dog gets plenty of exercise based on their needs and temperament. We are trainers. We work to minimize stress, so it is impossible to give anyone an exact amount of time a dog is in the yard. We observe dogs in the yard…some (like our own) prefer to stay out all day if they could. Others enjoy a quick romp and then they are ready to head back to their Suite. We let the dogs tell us what they need. We are fortunate to have plenty of space to accommodate all of their needs.
Hang with Friends!
We know that social dogs can benefit from some time to hang out together while their people are away. We also recognize that not all dogs are social and safety is number one here at the resort. Social time is for dogs that regularly socialize with other dogs without aggression issues. If you think your dog is right for this program, let us know on the check in sheet. If your new to us, we will evaluate your dog before placing him with other guests. In order to evaluate we use our Resident Daycare Manager…Brix.
Brix is extremely useful to us as he is a totally neutral stable dog capable of responding appropriately even to inappropriate behavior. If your dog does fine with Brix and we have other campers that we feel are compatible, we will include them all in social hour. When we are really busy (like summer time and holidays) it is not unusual for us to hold multiple social hours to get like temperaments together. If your dog does fine with Brix but is too overwhelmed by the other dogs, then he can enjoy one on one social time with Brix during their stay. And no worries, we understand that not all dogs are social and we err on the side of caution. Those dogs are not left out, they are just allowed to have the yard time to themselves!
